This page contains answers to common questions handled by our support staff, along with some tips and tricks that we have found useful and presented here as questions.

Question 1. Will Ostrich Farmer run on a Mac computer?
Answer: Yes, but only if the Mac has the Windows option installed. Ostrich Farmer requires Windows to operate. Win95 is recommended

Question 2. What support can I expect for the Ostrich Farmer program?
Answer: IMWA provides FREE support for Ostrich Farmer via email on the Internet. All other forms of support are chargeable. IMWA is able to provide onsite training and product customisation to a users requirements. All minor product upgrades are also FREE.

Question 3. How do I get eggs to hatch and automatically create a bird record record for the chick?.
Answer: Use the Hatch buttons provided or use the Auto-hatch screen if you are using the microchip scanner and auto weighing interface and hatching eggs in bulk. This is a standard feature of Ostrich Farmer

Question 4. Why does Ostrich Farmer reorganise when started? .
Answer: Ostrich Farmer will only reorganise on startup if it was not correctly shut down the last time it was used. eg if the computer was turned off with Ostrich Farmer still running, or the computer crashed while Ostrich Farmer was operating. To shut Ostrich Farmer down correctly,only use the Exit buttons and Exit menu items provided.

Question 5. Does Ostrich Farmer support Windows multitasking.
Answer: Yes, but you will only be able to run multiple copies of Ostrich Farmer if a multi-copy licence has been purchased.

Question 6. When I install the network workstation for Ostrich Farmer, the installer asks for the Windows directory of the server computer, yet I’m not running Windows as my network manager. What do I do?
Answer: Enter the full network path of the file OSTSYS.INI on the server machine.

Question 7. After I install Ostrich Farmer, I get a message Start.SBP not found. What do I do?
Answer: The installation process has not completed correctly - there would have been an error message that you did not notice. If necessary, download a new install file, and re-run the install making sure there are no errors.

Question 8. When I enter a Year2000 date, I get a message "invalid date". What is wrong?
Answer: Be sure to enter the full year ( 06/01/2000) for 6 Jan 2000. Entering the year as /00 is not acceptable. If the problem persists, after installing the latest update email support for assistance.
